ELVAN UYSAL BOTTONİ & AYLİN YAZICIOĞLU

Elvan Uysal Bottoni was born in Istanbul in 1974. She graduated from Hacettepe University’s Department of English Language and Literature. She worked in the fields of printed and visual media in Turkey and Italy. Uysal Bottoni has been living in Rome, Italy since 2000. She takes part in tastings and writes reviews as a jury member of the evaluation committee of Gambero Rosso, one of the most distinguished gastronomical media organisations in Italy; in Turkey, she writes columns for Hürriyet newspaper on gastronomy. Elvan Uysal Bottoni has published three books, including Mamma Mia: İtalyan Mutfağı Hakkında Çok Şey [Mamma Mia: Many Things about the Italian Cousine] (Yapı Kredi, 2011); Üzümler ve İnsanlar [Grapes and Humans] (Yapı Kredi, 2015); Emma Teyze’nin Kitabı: Yeni Başlayanlar İçin İtalyan Mutfağı [Aunt Emma’s Book: Italian Cousine for Beginners] (Yapı Kredi, 2020), and various books for children on gastronomy.

Aylin Yazıcıoğlu graduated from Boğaziçi University’s Department of Sociology. After completing her Master’s degree at Essex University, UK, she started to pursue her doctorate at Cambridge University, UK on Social History. In the third year of her doctorate, she changed her field of interest to culinary industry and received acceptance from Paris-based culinary school Le Cordon Bleu, where she assisted to instructor chefs. After her education, she worked with numerous Michelin star chefs and proved her professional skills in the kitchen. For eight years, she worked in various different cities like London, Barcelona and Leuven, but mostly in Paris. Aylin Yazıcıoğlu still continues to work in the field of gastronomy, and as an executive chef in distinguished restaurants.
